A true delight to discover each room, so beautifully appointed, with every modern convenience, spacious bedrooms, bathrooms and living area, kitchen with granite countertops, in downtown Southport and within walking distance of the intercoastal waterway, shopping, and restaurants. Just a short drive to Oak Island and transport to Bald Head Island. All were thought of when choosing aunt Evelyn's for our stay! Southport is a historical seaport, so tranquil and inviting! There were only two negatives...the furnace was not working in the lower level when we arrived (in January), but was quickly restored the next morning by the very efficient mainentance service. The other complaint was not with aunt Evelyn's or the rental company, but rather with the Oak Island linen service used in the area by many rental companies (we've experienced the same problem when staying elsewhere in Southport and on Oak Island). The sheets had hairs on them and did not appear fresh, and when I asked for them to be replaced, they were, but I found more of the same. Linens and towels should be impecible. This is a definite concern the rental company needs to address with the linen service. Hopefully, it is no longer a problem. Overall, we had a lovely stay at aunt Evelyn's and would not hesitate to stay at there again! Margaret Rudd and associates were very helpful and responded quickly to any requests or concerns.
