“The Compass” is the top floor of a duplex home located in the East Beach area of Oak Island, just 1.5 miles from Oak Island Golf Club. It has a beautiful covered porch and open deck with table, chairs and rockers and ocean view. It is just a short walk to direct beach access at the end of the street. The inside is open and comfortable with many amenities.
Ground Level: The ground level has an enclosed outside shower with dressing area.
Upper/Main Level: All rooms are located on the upper level of the duplex and include the kitchen, dining area, living room, laundry closet, three bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

This is our third time back to The Compass and we've already booked a fourth time. I hesitate to give this place such a glowing review for fear that others might find out about it. The Compass should really be classified as a second row house. You can see the beach from the deck and it's a straight shot to beach access. Appliances have been recently updated. Main living area is very open with a vaulted ceiling. Only quibble inside is a sticking door to the master bath. Outside, the front deck has lots of rocking chairs and half of the deck is covered so you can decide whether you want to sit in the sun or the shade. Location is perfect. If you're not familiar with Oak Island, there's west beach, east beach, and what I like to call east east beach. The Compass is located in the 10-block section of east east beach where the sand is extra fine, the beach is extra wide, the waves are smaller, and the traffic on the roads next to the beach is almost non-existant. We often walk to dinner at Thai by the Sea or we'll walk to Haag and Sons to pick up some fresh-caught seafood, take it back to the house and cook it.
