House was filthy upon arrival
Reviewed on 2025-09-13 by Kyle , NORTH CAROLINA United StatesWas not properly cleaned upon arrival
Reviewed on 2025-08-30 by Kyle , Lexington, NORTH CAROLINA United StatesProperty was ready 30 minutes after check in time. Upon arrival we noticed that they did not vacuum and mop. Floors were covered in sand and dog hair. Lots of hair under all the beds and we even found a left behind dirty sock. Beds weren’t made(unfortunately this is a new norm since covid) and the comforters were left unwashed after the previous renters. The fridge also smelled like rotten shrimp. I called Margaret Rudd’s office and the cleaning ladies came back about 10 minutes later. She insisted on me showing her what was not clean. We waited outside for 15 minutes or so while they cleaned. Then she came out and asked that I check the house because “she was not coming back”. The floors were still covered in sand and hair so I figured after them cleaning the floors two times it was pointless for them to do it again. I also asked if they could bring some baking soda for the fridge and freezer but never received any. The vacuum cleaner that stayed at the property did not vacuum well so we went and bought a swiffer and did it ourselves. We also purchased baking soda and after a night of being in the fridge the smell was completely gone(this should be a normal thing to keep in the fridge at the beach, every buys shrimp). Other than the cleaning problems, the property was in a really good spot and perfect for a family with kids. Access to the beach is a very short walk. There are 2 convenient outdoor showers to wash all the sand off. Margaret Rudd needs better cleaners and friendlier staff. This is the second time we’ve had a problem with them. We won’t make the mistake a third time.

Absolutely Loved
Reviewed on 2025-06-06 by Bobby and Kara Burleson , Charlotte, NC United StatesWe rented this home for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it! It is across the street from the ocean, so easily accessible, in a quieter section of Oak Island. The house itself has been renovated and everything was thought of. All updates are top notch. The beds were super comfortable as well. I would definitely recommend this rental and it’s saved as my favorites to rent again!
