Overall

This property has not been cleaned in months, maybe years. We were shocked with the condition of this house. There is hair and dust everywhere. The furniture and blankets are stained. There is hair, dust, crumbs and dirt in the seams of the couches, under the beds, and in corners of all the walls. The shower drains were also clogged. The mattresses were so old and creaky, felt like sleeping on a box spring. All of the windows are also broken and unsealed. Truly disgusted with the condition of this property - do NOT recommend.

Mr. Ernst: We apologize for the condition of the home upon your arrival. The home has been solidly booked since mid-April and this was the first report we received that it was in the condition you described. We have shared your feedback with our housekeeping manager who will discuss the issues with the team who cleaned the property prior to your stay. This is also the first we have heard of the maintenance issues with the windows, shower drains, etc. so we have shared that information with our maintenance department to follow up with once the current guest departs as they have not mentioned anything. Stains on one of the bedspreads was noted and we have removed the spread for a thorough cleaning. We have also taken 2 loaner comforters to the property to replace 2 that were missing prior to the current guest arrival. We hate that your opinion of the property was tarnished by this one experience but we do understand. Should you wish to return to Oak Island, we hope you will allow us another opportunity to show that this is not a typical stay with Margaret Rudd or a vacation in Mist You.

Overall

This place is beautifully decorated and was perfect for a trip with extended family. Grandkids, siblings and the grandparents were all thrilled. We would stay again in a heartbeat.
