We’ve got special events throughout the year that highlight a variety of holidays, national observances and just plain fun! Of course, we are most well-known in these parts for hosting the North Carolina 4th of July Festival in Southport NC each year. It is the largest 4th of July celebration in the state and there are great activities and entertainment for the entire week. Book your Oak Island rental now because that week fills up fast! But don’t worry, if you can’t see us in July, there is still plenty going on all year long!

FIRST FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH ALL YEAR
First Friday Gallery Walk / Downtown Southport / 5pm-7pm
The public is invited to browse and shop the latest creations of area artists. Wine and appetizers start the walk off at the Franklin Square Gallery then on to Art @ 211, Ricky Evans Gallery, Howe Outrageous, Lantana’s Gallery and Southport’s Silver Coast Winery and Gallery. Enjoy live music along the way!

EVERY MONDAY FROM MAY 19th to SEP 8th
Oak Island Farmer’s Market / Middleton Park Extension at 49th St. / 7am-1pm
The Oak Island Farmer’s Market features handmade and homegrown products from local farmers and artists. Pick up the freshest fruits, vegetables and local honey every Monday!

EVERY WEDNESDAY FROM MAY 7th to SEP 24th
Southport Waterfront Market / Garrison Lawn, Southport / 8am-1pm
You can browse the beautiful local produce, baked goods and handcrafted items spread under ancient live oak trees. There is a breeze off the river as well as music in the air as entertainment is always available.

SEPTEMBER 19th, 2014
Concerts on the Coast / Garrison Lawn / Southport / 6pm-7:30pm
Enjoy rock and beach music with “Kicking Aces” overlooking the beautiful Southport waterfront. Bring a blanket, a picnic and be ready to boogie! Admission is free!

SEPTEMBER 20th, 2014
Viva Las Vegas Casino Night / Southport Community Bldg / 7pm
Super fun fundraiser to support area elementary schools hosted by Southport Junior Women’s Club. $50 ticket price includes appetizers, beverages and $10K in gaming chips. To reserve your space call Olivia Hood at (910) 367-3290.

SEPTEMBER 20th, 2014
Battle of the Paddles / Boiling Spring Lakes, Pine Road / 9am-until
Have fun in this kayak fundraiser held by the BSL Fire Auxillary to benefit the fire department equipment fund. The event includes a poker run with prizes and the first 25 registrants get a free t-shirt.

SEPTEMBER 27th, 2014
8th Annual Bay Creek Classic Benefit Flounder Tournament / 6am-5pm
Wildlife Boat Ramp on Fish Factory Road, Southport from 6am-5pm. Captains Meeting on Friday, September 26th from 4pm-8pm. Saturday, September 27th Fishing Times – 7am-4pm (No Checkout. No Boundary). Weigh in 1pm-4pm. Award Ceremony after weigh in. Raffle Drawings. Special Prize Categories. Auctions. $75.00 per boat. Fun for the Family.

5th Annual Southport Wooden Boat Show / Old Yacht Basin / 10am-4pm
This festival grows in popularity each year – see beautiful wooden boats, enjoy nautical themed arts, crafts and demonstrations, kids events and seafood chowder cook-off. Click here for more information from their website.

An Evening of Chocolate Decadence Gala / St. James Community Bldg / 5:30p
A gala to benefit Waves4Kids  includes chocolate desserts and appetizers from area restaurants, bakeries and caterers as well as a silent/live auction and music and dancing by Jackie Gore.

Annual U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament / Southport Marina

Classic Cars -N- Rock ‘n Roll Cruise’n Weekend / Downtown Southport
Mark your calendars! On October 10 & 11 the City of Southport will turn back the hands of time. Baby Boomers will get the opportunity to relive the Happy Days of the 1950’s & 1960’s. Car show, Drive-in theater and live entertainment all weekend!!

BSL Fall Festival and Haunted Hayride / BSL Community Center

13th Annual Taste of Brunswick Benefit Gala for Children / BCC / 6pm-10pm
Funds generated support children and families of Brunswick County through the Dropout Prevention Program, Academic Scholarships, After School Programs, Teen and Peer Courts, the Adopt A School and Volunteer Program, and Parenting Education Programs. Oak Island Spooktacular / Oak Island Parks & Rec Center / 5pm-7pm

OCTOBER 30th-31st, 2014
Scarrison House / Southport’s Garrison House / 5pm-8pm
The Brunswick Little Theatre turns Fort Johnston’s Garrison House into the “Scarrison House” for Halloween 2014. Ghosts of pirates, sea captains, soldiers, weeping women, and more- all portrayed by Brunswick Little Theatre’s talented actors! Admission: $1.00.

Christmas by the Sea Parade / Oak Island Drive / 2pm
Oak Island’s Christmas by the Sea Parade is annual tradition for locals and visitors a like. Enjoy beautiful parade floats, local celebrities and of course the clowns.

Southport Christmas Flotilla / Southport Riverfront / 7pm-9pm
Stroll along the historic river-front and view the beautifully lit and decorated boats as they drift along. It is a truly spectacular sight that the entire family will enjoy.
