Wooden boats and Southport…the Cape Fear River Pilots guiding a freighter up river, commercial fisherman returning to the Old Yacht Basin with their Brunswick Catch, the Old Smithfield Burying Grounds, hosting NC State’s official 4th of July celebration, the Gentleman Pirate Stede Bonnet careening the Revenge through the Cape Fear inlet, and all the local history on display in Southport’s NC Maritime Museum and Visitor’s Center. All are an integral part of Southport’s heritage and are celebrated each year at the Southport Wooden Boat Show.
10am to 4pm - Wooden boats on exhibit along Moore Street and Caswell Avenue; Wooden boat building demonstration by Cape Fear Community College; Ship's Store (official event posters, hats and teeshirts for sale); Vendor displays; Maritime displays, talks and demonstrations; Children's activities
10am to 3:30pm - In-water boats on exhibit at the docks at Admirals Harbor
11am to 2pm - Taste of the Cape Fear (tickets go on sale at 10am)
10:30am to 3:30pm - Harbor Tours on the Cape Fear (boats depart from Fishy Fishy Restaurant)
4pm to 4:30pm - Wooden Boat awards and raffle prizes
