Booked this property based on the previous year's reviews. Interesting that there are none since that time. The rental company (Rudd) were super easy to work with and 100% professional. The problem is the house. The beds need to be replaced. Our family used 3 of the 4 bedrooms and EVERYONE was miserable. The family room furniture needs to be replaced. When you sit on the sofa, you sink to the floor...no matter where and the 1 and only chair in the family room is the same way. We all had to use the dining room chairs when we watched tv or were in the family room. The kitchen has plenty of cups but most of the plates and bowls were chipped and broken and a lot of the serving utensils were rusted and should be discarded. In the kitchen there was no where to put your groceries. Every nook and cranny was filled with mismatched cups and mugs. The upstairs seems to have been updated with newer furnishings, but it was poorly thought through when you don't put a ceiling fan as your overheard. There is only 1 ceiling fan in the house and it is in the family room. I could not recommend this house to anyone unless there were some much needed updates. On another interesting note, the HVAC filter is dated 9/2023, but was more than an inch in dust. Perhaps do a deep cleaning on the house if the filter is that clogged in a month.

While the property is one of our older homes, it is generally well maintained, clean and accessible for our guests. Typically, we do see a great amount of wear, clutter, and dust as the prime season ends in September. Despite that fact, we have forwarded your concerns and inconveniences over to the maintenance and housekeeping department. They will follow up with the owner to determine the best path forward. As you mentioned, the owner has updated areas of the property and we feel confident that they will be open to your comments and suggested changes/improvements. Please also note that at any point you are unhappy with your rental, the cleaning, or your experience - even down to the kitchen utensils - we welcome those reports as soon as you are having the experience. Our staff is more than happy to accommodate by replacing some items if we have it in stock at our office as we would much rather make what we can right in a prompt manner. Amazing House and Owner

I hesitate to leave this review as I don’t want more people to choose this house and I won’t be able to book it when my family wants to come. Lol This is an amazing house to stay in and make family memories. We usually come a couple times each year and the owners have made improvements to the house each year. However, the owners went above and beyond to make our stay so wonderful this week. Upon our arrival we discovered that the rocking chairs were all broken on the front deck. I called the reality company to ask if anything could be done as I had brought my elderly parents who find the greatest joy rocking on the front porch and looking at the ocean. Within two hours the owner brought 3 new rockers over and then made a second trip with 3 more chairs as all 6 could not fit in her car. How many people would go the extra mile like that? My family will defiantly book this property every trip we come to Oak Island!!

Overall

We had a wonderful vacation. First time visiting Oak Island but will definitely come back again. Loved the beach and property we stayed in. It definitely lived up to its name A little bit of heaven!!
