Our great selection of private beach houses and convenient condominiums is the ideal solution for practicing social distancing on your Oak Island vacation. Guests will find everything from amenities like board games, puzzles and even game rooms to keep the kids entertained, spacious kitchens with modern appliances perfect for preparing family meals, and secluded ocean front porches or private condominium balconies - all making it easy to keep the recommended six foot distance from others.

Are the beaches open?

Yes, area beaches are now open for leisure activities. Authorities continue to recommend maintaining a distance of 6 feet from others. There are access points open to the public; however, it is possible to find public access restrooms closed in various locations. Additionally, due to the aftermath of Hurricane Isaias - some beach access locations and public parking locations are off limits as they are being used as sand storage locations until further notice.

Are restaurants and retail businesses open?

Area restaurants and retail businesses have been permitted to open with 50% capacity. Many establishments have chosen to continue offering only take-out and curbside pick-up options and are operating under limited hours. MRA recommends contacting individual businesses for more information. Area Restaurants

Can we still participate in area activities and things-to-do?

Many public events have been cancelled or postponed due to the gathering restrictions in place and to protect the health and safety of potential attendees. 

Public parks, crab docks and kayak launches are open. At this time, community pools are permitted to open but may be closed per HOA rules or due to the time of the year. For the most up-to-date information, MRA suggests visiting local municipality websites on individual regulations.

Are grocery stores open and well-stocked?

Area grocery stores are open and stocked as you would expect. Area stores have been wonderful about restocking consistently and we recommend visiting earlier in the day to find the best selection.

There are a few stands/shops in the area offering fresh local produce like Maters & Taters, Angie’s Fresh Produce and the Marketplace on Howe. 

Do we have to wear face coverings and/or masks?

Under the NC Governor's most recent Executive Order, face coverings are required any time you are in a public place, indoor or outdoor, where physical distancing of 6-feet from others who are not members of the same household or residence is not possible, or unless an exclusion applies. Please note that area businesses may require stricter guidelines for entry.

How are you cleaning your properties between guests?

MRA’s housekeeping team members thoroughly clean and disinfect all hard surfaces, including but not limited to appliances, countertops, sinks, flooring, trash cans, doorknobs, fan pull chains and light switches/plates. In addition, soft surfaces such as cushions and pillows will be sanitized. MRA provides its housekeepers with CDC- and EPA-approved disinfectants, sanitizing products and microfiber cloths in order to complete cleans. How are you handling linens during this time?

On property bedding will be sanitized during each clean. Guests will find bedspreads and comforters tri-folded and placed at the foot of the bed. Additional bedding and blankets will be sanitized, folded and placed in closets.

Linens, either included with your reservation or rented through Beach Stuff Linens (including pillow cases, bed sheets and towels) will be laundered offsite and shrink-wrapped before delivery for peace of mind.

How will maintenance issues be handled during this time?

We ask that any housekeeping or maintenance issue be reported to our office immediately by phone call to (800) 486-5441. Staff may ask for guest preference on addressing the issue during your stay, or if it is preferred for us to wait for departure. We will take your preference as well as the severity of the issue into account when determining the next course of action. We ask for patience if an issue does arise as we aim to keep your safety and the safety of our staff and vendors in mind, and as we try to abide by the recommended social distancing guidelines.

Can I cancel my reservation?

You may request a cancellation of your stay; however, it is important to note that all cancellation requests now fall under the normal cancellation policy per the Vacation Rental Agreement. Please do not hesitate to email us at information@rudd.com with your Folio number and we will be happy to answer your questions regarding the cancellation procedure.

What if I purchased travel insurance?

Guests who purchased travel insurance will need to contact CSA directly with regard to any questions on coverage, filing a claim, etc. They will assist you with all questions regarding trip protection, coverage and cancellations. When contacting them, be sure to have your Folio#, and contract in hand. You may reach them by phone call to (800) 874-2442 or email to customerservice@generalitravelinsurance.com.
